Dichotomies

For every dichotomy in duality, there is also, paradoxically, a position of transcendence above the "dimension" of duality, where there is a wholistic point of view achieved by balancing the dichotomy and being neutral about the spectrum of duality. There is still, of course, the option to choose based on appropriateness, to participate with one polarity of a duality, but remain neutral and allowing of the existence of its opposite.

Before we proceed more deeply into examining any "paradigm", I'll throw out an old joke:
There are two kinds of people in the world:
Those who categorize people, and those who don't.
So the first lesson we can embrace is that judgments tell us a lot about the judge, and not necessarily anything about the judged. Things are what they are, and their fundamental essence remains unchanged, regarless how many "sticky notes" we paste over them, to attach our labels onto them and their reality. What words we write on those sticky notes is our choice reflecting our reality. This is not to say that all such "labellings" are inaccurate.

Let's look at an example dualistic dichotomy of belief systems, which is usually presented to us as "service to self" versus "service to others". If we simply "buy into" this alleged duality as "real", then, as with all dichotomies, we'll be tempted to align with one end of the (apparent) dichotomy, and therefore deny or disagree with the opposite polarity. But it is only one paradigm, and it has no more validity or claim to being an absolute truth, than any other.

As transdimensional beings, our fundamental existence is about vertical energy flow. This is often acknowledged in the statement: "As above, so below.", and its mirror, "As below, so above.", whereby, energy patterns, will, intent, and flow, evidence harmonious equivalence in all dimensions, aetheric / spiritual, mental, astral / emotional, and physical realities. In the "enlightened" state of consciousness, this may be integrated into a wholistic consciousness and perception, where "I am that!", whereby any "that" which you can point at, which appears to be "outside of" or "separate from" the apparently separate self (i.e. often synonymous with body identification), is recognized to be an aspect of the one wholeness, so that "I" includes everything, i.e. "I am (one with) all that is."

In the paradigm of self responsibility and wholeness, you cannot long entertain thoughts roughly equivalent to: "I'll harm my toes to benefit my fingers", therefore your entire perspective is based in wholeness, and this can quickly be translated as harmlessness. In this perspective one does not really entertain any concepts even beginning to approach "service to self" vs. "service to others", and we quickly realize that they are merely two polarities of the martyr / victim game. But even if you insist upon remaining at the level of dualistic dichotomous consciousness, that fundamental division is erroneous, and makes implicit assumptions, intentionally, in order to manipulate your consciousness in a specific direction, that of martyrdom. Martyrdom, so idolized in the "thou shan't practice idolatry" "Christian" cultreligion is a brainwashingpreconditioning mindset necessary to accept a condition of slavery and servitude to others... and that brings us back to the paradigm I started to address, which is presented by many in the light that service to self (freedom) is evil while service to others (slavery) is noble.

The real issue is not who is being served, but how they're being served. The issue in that question is abuse, and my summary statement about that is, noone should / shall be harmed in the process of service, and that means:

Now we can see that those promoting the STS vs STO paradigm are part of the slavery game, and that we can step outside that entire paradigm, and instead operate in self responsible reality creation, serve self well in a manner harmless to others, and that all service to others is a situation of voluntary gifting, rather than compelled by the belief that one must be serving others to be a good person. Ultimately, the highest expression is that of voluntary cocreation in positive synergy achieved by mutually cooperating empowered sovereigns, rather than a powerful saviour rescuing a self victimizing slave. Restating that for clarity: "All victimhood and disempowerment is self created, and it is chosen as a vehicle of manipulating others to be responsible for the victim, i.e. to create dependency." and the consequence is this: "Every victim is a victimizer, who uses their self created 'victimhood' to victimize the misapplied compassion of rescuers to make them responsible for the alleged 'victim' who will not relinquish their condition of victimhood because it serves them so well to get others to meet their needs, and because it is such an effective manipulation to justify their continuing to play 'the blame game'."

Bringing the lesson "home", what happens when we transcend all this? We step above, no longer "buy into", and no longer participate in any of the dichotomies which include:

"If you hand a man a fish, you've fed him for a day. If you teach him 'how to fish', you've fed him for a lifetime." All of reality is created by choice. We are foolish to ever "buy into" the illusion proferred by so many victimizers, that "they are victims" or that "they have been victimized", it's all just a manipulation to steal your life force energy and get you to caretake them, i.e. to hand them fish. Therefore, as with all "healing", treat not the symptoms, but instead address the cause, and the ultimate cause here, is the right, freedom, power, and permission of the individual to choose to be an abusive manipulator who victimizes the loving compassion of those who need to be needed, through the creation of the illusion of powerlessness and victimhood. When confronted by such an individual or situation, acknowledge their great power to so effectively dominate through manufacturing the illusion of powerlessness, and "teach them how to fish" simply by delivering to them the concept: "you could choose to create for yourself directly (catch fish), rather than continuing to defraud others by insisting they must hand you fish, because you are owed, for having suffered as a victim."
